Meet Our Saucony Local Legends

Two blacktoe runners posing in saucony shoes

To kick off the launch of Saucony's most popular distance shoe, the Triumph 21, we're recognizing two exceptional athletes who exemplify what it means to be enthusiastic, hard-working, and supportive members of their running communities.

Local legends, if you will!

Meet Kerry and Brian: these marathoners and long-time members of our BlackToe Run Club and Race Teams can be found running all corners of the city, always demonstrating an unwavering dedication to the sport and other athletes.

The People Have Spoken!

Our Saucony Local Legends were nominated by fellow athletes and team members who shared why they were inspired to select Kerry and Brian as representatives of the Toronto running community:

"Brian's mission to run every street in Toronto has to make him the ultimate local legend! He'll know the city better than anyone, all explored while running."

"Kerry is always the first to welcome new runners to the BlackToe Clubs or on community runs and then connect them with someone in their pace group. Everyone is welcome when Kerry is around."

"Brian is the nicest guy, a brilliant runner, and always ready to help others. His finish-line face alone is legendary!"

"Kerry is the most positive person in the running community and is very committed to running. I have seen her running all year in all weather. Whether it be on Sunday long run, Tuesday workouts or during a race event, she brings out the best in everyone with her support and leadership."

"I love seeing Brian out there. He's really inspiring and one seriously dedicated runner. He's always got a smile and kind words ready and is admired by the BlackToe teams at Midtown and down in King West. He'll also happily pace anybody. Just ask and he's there."

"Kerry has such a passion for helping new folks get acclimated to run club and is accommodating to everyone, regardless of pace or speed or experience. She helps ensure that people find the right pace group on both long runs and tempo runs. She's a legend in my books!"

"Brian may have moved up to the Race Team because of his speed, but he'll always be a member of Run Club in my books! When I think back to my early days of running and the people who inspired me to keep coming back, Brian is one of the first that comes to mind. Along with running the entirety of Toronto, he's my pick for local legend."

"Kerry never misses an opportunity to take the lead at organizing a cheer station, send positive vibes to teammates as they run, generally be smiley, and just shows up at every workout. She's legend status."

So what do these Local Legends have on their feet? They were outfitted by Saucony with the new Triumph 21, a max-cushion distance shoe designed to handle endless miles (and smiles, of course). This daily trainer is soft and supportive, with adequate bounce and energy to make each run feel lively.

With the 10 mm drop and slight rocker geometry, the Triumph 21 accommodates athletes with a variety of stride patterns and goals, from folks chasing their first 5K to marathoners who need some dependable TLC during peak weeks.

This running shoe is rounded out with excellent traction for all-terrain running (hello unpredictable Canadian weather!) and durability that you can count on. Visit us online or at either of our BlackToe Running retail locations (Midtown and King Street West in Toronto) to try on the new Saucony Triumph 21!
